Junebug {two months}

Junebug you are growing much too fast! This poem plays in my head many of my days as I desperately cling onto the newborn baby that is changing and growing every day.

    Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
    Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
    Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
    Sew on a button and make up a bed.
    Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
    She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
    Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
    (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
    Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
    (Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
    The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
    And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
    But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
    Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
    (Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

    The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
    For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
    So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
    I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

    At two months you are:

    * Sleeping from about 11:30pm-8am you nurse again and then sleep until 10:30
    * You haven't established a predictable nap schedule during the day but you take small naps here and there.
    * You aren't a big eater like your brother was but take after your sister in this department.
    * You are about as easy going as it gets until the evening hits and then you get a little fussy but you seem to already be transitioning out of this.
    * You are starting to smile and coo. We are sure to get the biggest smiles out of you first thing in the morning when you wake up and your Sissy comes to greet you in bed.
    * You love to be swaddled in your miracle blanket
    * You aren't crazy about your swing and prefer to be held
    * You just moved up to a size 2 diaper
    * You weigh 10.8 pounds
    * You are such a gift and fit us perfectly!

  1. I love it. As a grandmother I understand the meaning of the poems too well. If you don't get enough loving done on your babies then you get a second chance with sweet, priceless grand babies. Love Nonnie
