Last week we had the pleasure of having our dear friends over for the final days of summer. Mom and Dad are teachers and started inservice so the kiddos needed a place to go for the day and we were beyond happy to have them. I love these kids dearly because they are awesome little people but what makes me love them even more is the way they love on my kids. It's precious how they serve and care for my little ones. Having them in our home gave me a glimpse of what a large family could be like. Playing games together was a blast because each age played a role appropriate to their level. The older ones would facilitate an activity while the little ones were entertained by the activity. From bowling, to puppet shows, to dog training and cowboy playing, everyone played a part and enjoyed their role.The entire morning would go by and I would realize that I hadn't parented much, rather just facilitated while the older kids would take care of needs like water for sippy cups and potty breaks. It shows me that this extremely needy stage is fleeting and before long the kiddos will be playing in a room all together and not need or want me to sit with them every second of the day. Sometimes this stage is taxing but when I think about how fast it goes by it helps me savor them needing me.












Now if I could just snap my fingers and have four more kids in various ages that would be great!
