Hill Country Getaway

Hey Y'all! We just got back from a little getaway in the Texas Hill Country close to where I grew up. We had a blast living life on the farm and taking it easy. We made no plans and just enjoyed some down time. We stayed on my dear friends Dad's peach farm while he was out of town and enjoyed the pretend farm life. I grew up with horses, swimming in the river and picking peaches so it was nice to slip back into my childhood for a bit.
The kids absolutely loved every minute of our trip. In fact Little Miss thought we moved there because we were the only ones in the house, so when we pulled back in our driveway she began to cry and say she wanted to go back to our new house. Poor girl! At least we know she's not attached to our home or possessions.
I got to meet up with a dear friend and only got a picture on my iphone so I guess I will have to wait and post that on Insta-Friday. I also got to go into town for some antique shopping while the kids took their naps. I had planned on stopping by my favorite go-to restaurant while I was there only to find that it had completely shut down :( Such a bummer. They had the absolute BEST Carrot Cake!   At least I have the recipe to make it myself.
Everyday went a little something like this. Wake up and feed/play with the horses, pick a few peaches for breakfast, give the dogs some love, play on the trampoline, go into town for some fun, come home and take naps, dad stayed home while mom went out to play, come back and eat dinner, go play in the river until sunset, come home for some more trampoline jumping and then turn in for bed.  It was perfect.

I hope y'all are having a good day! I'm just finishing up some laundry, cleaning the car out and about to do our monthly budget while the kids are taking their naps. Oh...also, I'm wanting some new peach dessert recipes, do you have any to share?

  1. I LOVE the Pioneer Woman's blackberry cobbler recipe! We have used it with peaches, blackberries, apples, and blueberries. I decrease the sugar a bit because there's a LOT of it and I add a little bit of vanilla for something extra but it is fantastic just as she has it. (The link is below but you will need to copy and paste it into the browser.)

    1. Carrie- We missed seeing all of you! Arabelle loved a baby doll that she found in the spare bedroom. She carried it everywhere. She also admired a Christmas picture of the girls. The peaches were delicious. I bet you're enjoying your fresh produce in your own backyard.
