Christmas Ornament Time Capsule {DIY}

Before you pack up your Christmas decorations I have something I want to share with you. I have seen so many cute ideas involving clear glass ornaments and this idea evolved as a result of many of those. I love Christmas ornaments that have meaning and especially those that bring back memories from years past. Starting this year I plan to make an ornament time capsule of the Christmas Season. It's something easy to make right after Christmas is over, pack it up and enjoy it the next year and many to follow. You could have fun with it and do it a variety of ways. I chose to use glue, glitter and notebook paper this time around, I'm sure it will change each year. I even thought of writing out all of the memories with a Sharpie on the glass but hesitated to do that because the thought of it breaking and not having something salvageable with the memories on it would break my heart.

  1. So cute!! Only I think I would make one for each of them, that way when they are older and have Christmas trees of their own, they can each have one for every year :)

  7. this is a great idea. Wish I had seen this before all the ornaments were out of the store. I found this because I saw your liquid soap recipe on pinterest. Thank you for your contributions to our family life. You're a blessing to many, most of which you have never
    met.

    1. Almost any craft store or large store carries them as soon as Christmas decor is on display.

  14. I did this one year and within a couple years the glue will peel and fall away from the ornament. I am no sure if you could put some type of clear coat or something on it to keep the glue from peeling off. Love the idea though!!

  16. Have never done them as a time capsule, but do paint a new ornament each year for my son. 2004 I made each of my 16 nieces and nephews hand painted ornaments. I had broken one of the necklaces from my wedding so I used the stones from that, the matching earrings and bracelet to add something special to the nieces bulbs.
